Growing food at home

Seeded Started. Parts of it exist, parts are still being read and costed.

This area starts from a finished design: twenty-five pages on a mushroom farm that a computer looks after. The survey also has a part on AI-controlled home production of energy and food.

Microgreens, vegetables and fruit are the parts still to research.

Drawn from Jo's survey, Part VI, and the mycelium blueprint.

The separation that makes it safe

The mycelium design is a small edge system: ESP8266 sensor nodes reporting over MQTT to a Raspberry Pi 4B, with MongoDB behind it, and a local language model in the loop.

Its main design decision is a division of labour. The model proposes and a deterministic layer actuates. The model never opens a valve or switches a heater itself: a simpler layer that can be checked decides. The same separation applies wherever a model controls hardware.

What is not known here

The open items for this project. Work on it starts here.

  • Nothing has been planted. The blueprint is a design, and no part of it has been built.
  • Microgreens, vegetables and fruit: no research done yet.
